Artist at workSedov was born in Yuzha, not far from Kholuy in the Ivanovo region. At present Vladimir Nikolaevich lives in the village of Kholuy. In 1971 the artist graduated from the Kholuy Art School. His teachers were such founding artists as N.V. Starikov, A.M. Kosterin, and A.I. Semenov. Sedov's thesis work was entitled "Alexander Nevsky". After finishing the Art School Sedov was employed by the Kholuy miniature factory. Three years later he joined V.A. Belov's creative group. From 1984 till 1989 he taught composition at the Kholuy Art School. Sedov Vladimir is a member of the Russian Federation Union of Artists since 1977. His works has been exhibited since 1976.

The artist is a laureate of Lenin Komsomol. He was awarded two silver and four bronze medals by the committee of the Exhibition of National Economy's Achievements. He participated in the exhibition in Canada in 1989. Major miniature works by Sedov include "In Moscow Court on Ivan Square" (theme by R. Rozhdestvensky), "Order of Peter I", "The Strike", "The Tale of the Golden Cockerel" (1978), "Magnitka" (1979), "Alexander Nevsky", "Partisans in the Woods", "Krasnaya Presnia", "The First Soviet Decrees".

Sedov's recent picture. 2002His pieces reflect his preference in painting fairy-tales and historic subjects, especially subjects on Soviet history. The creative work of Vasnetsov, Bilibin, Kochupalov (Palekh), B.I. Kiselev, A.N. Kosterin, V.A. Yolkin, Mitiashina, Mokina (Kholuy) influenced Sedov's style of painting. V.N. Sedov effects a blend of the crisp manner of A.N. Kosterin and the painterly manner of B.I. Kiselev.

Sedov's works are exhibited in museums of Palekh, Kholuy, Moscow, St. Petersburg and France. Sedov thinks that the most important elements in his work are fine brushwork and established style. The artist considers a painting to be finished if it is expressive and he likes it. In his spare time Sedov likes to exercise and spend time with his family. Sedov wishes to his admires to study Russian Art and culture.
