Liliana Anverovna Slaeva was born in 1979 in Dmitrov, a town located within the Moscow Region.

In 1999 Liliana graduated from the Fedoskino Art School. She studied under such teachers as V.V. Sinelnikova, who taught the techniques of miniature painting, and N.G. Marchukov, who taught composition. Liliana’s graduation project, or diploma work as it is sometimes called, included two compositions entitled “Fortune-telling On Wreaths” and “Mermaids”.

Today Liliana works at the Fedoskino Lacquer Art Factory. She paints according to the style of Fedoskino miniatures with the use of oil paints. Themes she chooses and likes to work with include genre scenes, fairy-tales, portraits, and interpretations of great paintings from world history.

To this date Liliana's works are kept in private collections throughout the world.

She feels that it is very important considering the creative process when going to work on a lacquer miniature. Upon starting to paint on a box, her intent is to depict the chosen theme to its maximum potential, while finding interesting compositional decisions in the process.

Liliana thinks it is possible to work on a single miniature painting forever, because one can always find new compositional decisions to make when painting. Liliana feels color usage is of great importance, and deals special attention so her palette works harmoniously in the painting. It takes her, on average, anywhere from 10 to 15 days to paint a composition. She thinks her works are easily recognized by the unique execution found in her paintings.

Works by such world-renown artists like Konstantin Makovsky, Karl Bruillov, Victor Vasnetsov and Ivan Kramskoy have been a great influence on the artist’s painting.

The artist sincerely hopes her works will bring admirers a feeling of aesthetic pleasure. She wishes prosperity to all people; not only to those who collect and love lacquer art.
