The entertainers are ready to go, and the guests are all waiting in the reception hall. The cool mountain air runs up the façade of the villa walls into the open-air room where they are getting ready. One dancer, one singer, one guitar player, and the master of ceremonies make up one well-oiled machine that can put a smile on anyone's face and make them feel like they got their money's worth once the act is over. Its not just a job for these people, they are artists making a living on what they know best, which is how to translate their creative impulses into a cultural act for any occasion.

Egg-tempera paint is the main medium used to paint this composition. In the traditional Palekh sense, this box does not fit under that category. The painting is based with the principles of realism, which involve perspectives, proportions, and color that the artist must answer to. He has done this with great skill, and with a paint that is difficult to use when painting realistic scenes. The palette is filled with bold tones in the foreground, while the background is painted with softness in color and tone to create the separation between both worlds. The brushwork is extremely thin and details the characters right down to the creases and shadows in their clothing. The architecture is chosen to give the composition a classical European feel of the Italian or Swiss Alps. Gold paint is used to enhance the sparkle of the painting, and it details the characters' clothes, the tree in the window frame, and the monolith in the midground of the painting.

Gold paint is used to decorate the box, and make not only painting on the lid a work of art. The scene is painted on a raised oval on the lid, which is surrounded by solid gold paint that is painted over with black paint to create the intricate frame for the scene. This entire rectangle is framed by traditional ornamentation on the black surface of the box. A beautiful, but larger, pattern can also be found wrapping around the sides of the box; it is accented with aluminum flowers and is the perfect complement to the artistry on the lid.

The box is constructed out of paper-mache made in Palekh. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the box; clear lacquer, in many coats, is added to the box's body then polished to give the box a resplendent finish. The box has a hinge to its left and rests on four carved feet. Upon completing the work on this piece the artist writes Palekh, 2000, and signs his name at the bottom of the composition.

Materials: paper-mache, egg-tempera paint, gold, aluminum, and lacquer.
