When artistry and jewelry combine their efforts, anything is possible. Skill, determination, imagination and precision. They are all needed as various forms of metal, gem stone and natural elements are shaped into a final presentation. These materials are injected, carved, painted, bent and melted until the artist has what it is they were looking for. When completion is achieved a piece of the artist themselves is now the property of the art work itself. The mind is capable of much. Much that entertains, intrigues and decorates.
The cameo pendant is an intriguing piece of hand crafted artistry. Engraved by hand into Baltic amber, these entrancing pieces of jewelry are as unique as they are impressively beautiful. The engraving is completed through the backside of the pendant in a method known as the Intaglio style. The resulting piece holds a three-dimensional engraving within a natural piece of amber. It is then surrounded by a sterling silver setting, rope textured around the edge and completed with a single ring space so that it may be hung on any necklace.
A beautiful bouquet is the subject of this pendant. The varied roses and foliage are amazingly realistic, practically bursting forth right through the amber. Pieces like this were favorites of the late Catherine the Great. The pendant and amber were crafted in Russia while the actual engraving was completed in either Italy or Poland. These are mesmerizing collectibles as well as masterful pieces of hand crafted art.
