Great | OK | Great on our server side. Excellent command line image editing capabilities. Use the Image::Magick perl module to do amazing things with images on-the-fly!. Not much use for us on the desktop at this time. |
|
OK | Great | Desktop Image editor of choice for Sunbirds. We use Image Magick on the server. Gimp Keyboard Shortcuts |
|
Not Used | Great | Netraverse Win4Lin lets us run www.microsoft.com windows OS and www.quickbooks.com quickbooks pro under linux. At the moment (01.01.2002) we only need MS Windows to run Quickbooks. Which is a great product. Too bad not available under linux. We send them an email every month. Ask them to come up with Quickbooks for Linux! |
|
Not Used | OK | Used for PowerPointLike applications and word editing. Works OK, crashes sometimes -- we just reinstall it and works again. Here are some Keyboard Shortcuts: StarOffice Keyboard Shortcuts StarOffice Keyboard Shortcuts: General and Formatting ShortCuts |
We print our own checks under Linux! Provided by FreeCheck |
Not Used | Great! |
Call up your bank and tell them never to charge you for checks again! Print you own checks under Linux starting today! Simply download the 'Battle Star Galactica' like type 1 fonts
from GnuMICR. Also Download the FreeCheck package.
Then make the X see this font. In our case, we put the GnuMICR.afm file to /usr/lib/X11/fonts/ghostcript/ and ran the
type1inst in that directory. Made sure that font path existed in the /etc/X11/fs/config.
And added a line from the Fontmap file generated by type1inst [/GnuMICR (GnuMICR.pfa) ;] to the ghostscript Fontmap file at /usr/share/ghostscript/7.05/lib/Fontmap.GS
Restarted X, checked the test.ps via gv from the GnuMICR-0.22a, to see if the odd looking symbols appear, then checked the example_check.ps from the freecheck-0.30 package and began editing the configuration file for freechecks. Since we use Quickbooks under win4lin, we needed to print compatible checks. After some exerimentation, this line generates perfect checks for business use: $ ./freecheck --checktype MVD3000 --checkstyle QStandard > mychecks.ps If for some odd reason the symbols dont show, try ps2ps mychecks.ps betterchecks.ps and gv betterchecks.ps |
