Beketova Svetlana Yuryevna (1959 - ...)  Click to play

Svetlana Yurievna Beketova was born in 1959 in the town of Yuzha, Ivanovo Region and lives now in her native town. Svetlana graduated from the Kholuy Art School in 1978, where she studied miniature painting under A.A. Semenov, Belov V.A, Fiskov V.T., Babarkin V.P. and L.M. Zhivnostka. Her diploma work was a plate entitled "Needlewoman".

Beketova paints in old Kholuy traditions. She uses tempera paints and likes to represent scenes of Russian fairy-tales and bylinas in her miniatures. The artist considers selection of a theme to be the most important element in her pieces. Upon beginning a new work Svetlana's main aims are to keep the style of ancient Kholuy painting and to design a unique wonderful casket. In her artwork the painter prefers to use blue colors and all warm tones too. Beketova thinks the work on a miniature is completely executed, when she gets all intended details. The master has her personal methods of painting. So her own technique of painting is prominent feature of Svetlana's artwork. She believes admirers of fine art will remember themes, color palette, and paints of her lacquer miniatures.

In free time Svetlana likes to cook, to read, to knit, and to travel.

To collectors she wishes to acquire wares of Kholuy lacquer miniature.
