Gurilyeva Maria Alexandrovna

Gurilyeva Maria Alexandrovna was born in 1961 in the village of Palekh, where she currently resides at present.

In 1985 the artist finished the Palekh Art School. Her teachers were A.G. Borunov, A.P. Gordeev and Nemtinov.

Maria Alexandrovna works at home together with her husband Sergey Vladimirovich Gurilyev.

Works in the traditions of Palekh School and uses egg-tempera paints. Her favorite themes to depict are fairy tales, bylinas and works of literature.

The artist thinks choice of colors and decorating the piece with thin gold brushstrokes to be the most important stages of work. Upon beginning a piece, Maria Alexandrovna intends to realize all her artistic ideas. She considers the work to be finished if she has been able to express her impressions and feelings got from reading a literary work.

The artist prefers to paint with light and clear colors to make the piece shine.

Sergey and Maria Gurilyev

On painting a composition the artist spends from several weeks to several years. Everything depends on a chosen subject. She thinks that people will remember her artworks owing to beautiful color treatment, interesting themes and high level of execution.

Creative work of such masters as Borisov-Musatov, Vrubel, Nesterov and Botichely influenced her individual style.

The artist sincerely wishes her works will bring joy and happiness to people.

Her wish: "Be kind to each other and the whole world will be lighter, kinder and happier!".
