Funtusova Ekaterina Gennadievna was born on May 22, 1972 in the town of Nizhny Tagil. Now she resides in the town of Lobnya, Moscow Region.

In 1992 the artist finished the Fedoskino Art School where she studied under Frolov V.N., Kulgavov V.S and Pashinin L.M. Her diploma work included the composition painted after original by Brullov "Portrait of Volkonskaya" executed according to the method of "skan" (this method was widely used by the artists of old Fedoskino; the method of skan implies decoration of boxes with different patterns composed of thin foil plates) and two male portraits.

At present the artist works at the Fedoskino factory of miniature art. She paints in oils in the traditional Fedoskino style. Themes of her works are portraits, genre scenes with children and icons.

Ekaterina Gennadievna values in her works most of all high-grade reproduction, hearfulness of the subject, warmth and softness of color.

Beginning to paint a new composition, she always intends to paint it better than previous one and even to surpass skill of the artist who painted the original.

The artist paints her works in warm tones giving predominance to ochre, green and brown colors. She supposes her works are notable for interesting themes, colors and qualitative execution. It usually takes her from four days to a week to paint a composition.

Creative work of such prominent artists as Borovikovsky, Brullov and Shilov influenced on her style of painting.

Ekaterina Gennadievna likes to spend her free time with her family and draw.
