Sergey Sergeevich at his workshopRogatov Sergey Sergeevich was born in 1955 in the village of Fedoskino. Now the artist resides in the village of Krukovo. Sergey Sergeevich finished the Fedoskino Art School. His teacher was the famous Fedoskino painter Gennady Larishev.

S.S. Rogatov is a Member of the Artists' Union of Russia. He is rewarded with a medal received in the Pushkin Exhibition in 2000 for his artwork "Summer garden".

The artist paints in oils in the style of Fedoskino lacquered miniature. He is interested in depicting historical subjects, allegories and landscapes. His favorite works are "Summer garden" for which the artist got a medal in the Pushkin Exhibition and "George the Conqueror".

Sergey Sergeevich values his works, chiefly, for chosen themes and painting itself. Starting his work, the artist always intends to paint a "good" miniature. Sometimes it takes him much time to paint a composition, for instance, he has painted his famous artwork "Summer garden" for a year. Finishes his work on a composition, when all his artistic ideas are realized and there is nothing to add.

Sergey Sergeevich at the "Golden Gates" Sergey Sergeevich paints his works in pastel tones, achieving peculiar depth of color. His personal artistic method is "tight painting". The artist supposes people will remember his artworks, mainly, for interesting themes, beautiful color treatment and qualitative performance.

S.S. Rogatov chose his profession per family tradition. His father, Sergey Petrovich Rogatov (1920), and his mother, Mariya Ivanovna Rogatova (copyist artist), are also famous Fedoskino painters. Sergey Sergeevich graduated from the Fedoskino Art School where he studied under P.S. Davydov and G.I. Larishev. The artist has been working at the Fedoskino factory of miniature art since 1974. Participant of various exhibitions since 1975.

In his free time the artist reads, plays guitar and likes to pick mushrooms very much. This year he stored up a pail of dry mushrooms.
