Katunina Margarita Alexandrovna (1928 - ...)  Click to play

Margarita Alexandrovna Katunina was born in 1928 in the town of Kokhma in Ivanovo region. In 1947 Margarita entered the Palekh Art School, and in 1952 she graduated from it with honors, mastering the art of lacquer miniature to perfection. Margarita Alexandrovna was admitted to the Artists Union in 1968.

The painter prefers to reproduce folklore subjects and genre scenes. The examples of her creative works are miniatures "Duke Stepanovich", "Blue Shawl", and "School Waltz". Many works by Katunina have been displayed at various exhibitions since 1954, and some of them can be seen in collections of the State Museum of Palekh Art, State Russian Museum, and Russian Art Fund.
