Ikonnikov Yuriy Vladimirovich was born on November 18, 1934 in the village of Mstera, Vladimir Region, where he resides at present.

Now the artist works as a teacher in the Mstera Vocational Art School.

In 1956 Yuriy Vladimirovich finished the Mstera Vocational Art School. His teacher was Nemova M.D.

Yu.V. Ikonnikov’s author works are “Sadko”, “Bogatyr and Dragon”, “Merchant Kalashnikov” (1985-1992) and many other works.

The artist is rewarded with a medal “Veteran of Labour”. He also has many honorary diplomas.

Yuriy Vladimirovich works in the style of Mstera lacquered miniature, using tempera paints. He prefers to paint his artworks on themes of Russian fairy-tales. His favorite work is “Sadko in the underwater realm”.

The artist supposes coloring is the most important element in his artworks. Beginning to work, he intends to express a plot of a well known fairy-tale in a new fashion. Finishes working, when a composition is entirely completed and gladdens the eye.

Yuriy Vladimirovich thinks his works are easily recognizable by peculiar painting technique. In his opinion, people will remember his artworks owing to harmonious combinations of cold and warm tones and original execution.

Yuriy Vladimirovich decided to be an artist because he loved art since his childhood.

In his free time the artist likes to play chess and read historical literature.
